1994 Mazda Miata
Classic Red NA

1994 Classic Red

1994 Interior

I've owned sports cars for most of the last 50 years. TR4, MGB, TR6 and such.  After the kids were out of college, I bought my first Miata.  I love the Miata driving experience so much so, that over the last 13 years I have had five of them. This 1994 red beauty is my fifth Miata.

I have owned two NAs.  I keep coming back to the original Miata.  This car is an excellent example of the first generation Miata. It was a one owner car. The owner lived in the same MA town as me.  It was always garaged and under a car cover and driven on weekends... for almost 21 years. Its original classic red paint has survived so well and is in absolutely like-new condition... look at the photo gallery below for the reflections in the paint.  The engine bay looks like a 3-4 year old car. And the black cloth seat interior matches the condition of the rest of the car.  The cockpit has had two important upgrades. The first is the replacement of the OEM center console with the IL Motorsport redesigned center console.  It is a real improvement over the original OEM console.  The other upgrade is the replacement of the old radio with a modern double-DIN touchscreen radio with modern hands-free phone support.

The engine is smooth and strong.  The 5-speed gearbox is a joy to use.  I actually prefer it to the fancy 6-speed gearboxes in the NB and NC generations. With the upgraded Fly'in Miata sway bar kit, the handling is as good or better than the 2004 Mazdaspeed Miata I owned before this. This Miata had 80,000 miles on it when I got it.  I put another 2,000 on it so far.
